Pre-school Newsletter –April 2018

Please be reminded that we finish for the Easter break on Wednesday 28th March. And return to school on Monday 16th April. I hope you all have a lovely Easter and we look forward to seeing you all next term.

There will be a new menu which will be in place when we return next term. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that all our dinners are fresh ingredients purchased locally where possible, and all the dinners are home made in the school kitchen. And we order these every day for each child, we are seeing lots of waste at the moment so if you could make sure that if your child is going to be off sick that you call before 9am so we DON’T order a dinner otherwise we will have to charge for this dinner.

Also if you could make sure that all the children in the afternoon DO NOT eat before they come into school, Lots of children are saying they have had snacks or lunch first. So they are not hungry for dinner.

Next term we are going to be having a male role model day this will be Friday 4th may. This is a chance for a dad, Grandad, uncle to come in and play for the session (one adult per child).  We have got lots of fun activities arranged for the session so we look forward to seeing those that can attend. More information will follow as we will arrange a picnic lunch for everyone.

The school photographer will be coming into school to take pictures of all the children on Tuesday 8th May. I will send out more information on this after Easter. Any children that do not attend on a Tuesday are welcome to come in at a set time and have their photos taken, we do also make arrangements for you to bring siblings in too. Children in the main school can have theirs taken before school at 8am in the morning with their siblings.

After Easter we will be completing our sponsor and we will be focusing on Animals and their young.  The sheets will be coming home soon so if you could go through these with your children so we can test them after Easter. This is one of our regular fund raisers, so if we could ask that when you receive the sponsor sheets you could collect as many sponsors as possible as we are still raising money to replace our climbing frame for the children in our garden.

Week beginning 16th April we will be talking about growing. We have been given a large planter which we would like to create a sensory garden in. We would be very grateful if anyone could donate some plants, bags of compost or top soil for this.  We will be buying plants that smell nice like lavender or herbs, plants that are smooth to touch anything that flowers. And your help would be very much appreciated.

We will be having our family picnic at the end of June beginning of July more details on this will follow next term with an exact date.

On Thursday 12th July we will be having an open evening. This is an opportunity for you to pop in and have a look around the setting you will be able to look at your children’s work. And for the children that are leaving we will be handing over all their paperwork to you.

Can we ask that the children don’t wear any jewellery to school.  Long necklaces and valuable bracelets can break or get lost during play. Causing the children to get upset.

When you arrive at the setting with your children can you please give any messages about your children to the member of staff with the diary.  Sometimes we are given lots of messages and they are not put into the diary causing us to make phone calls keeping families waiting which can lead to the children becoming upset.

Please can you all remember to empty your children’s book bags regularly.  We put their work that they have done for you and letters with information to you in them. We are finding work and letters are not being taken out. Also please do not allow the children to bring in any food or drinks in their bags as we don’t want other children to find them and they spill.
